Before you start your PPC Campaign, think about what you want to achieve. Then you just follow simple steps.

Work out your goals. Do you want to make more sales, encourage sign-ups, increase enquiries? Be clear about your aim.

Decide which search engine to advertise with - Google AdWords and Yahoo Bing Ads are the most popular. Sign up and create an account.

Select keywords that reflect what someone would type into a search engine when looking for your product.

Set your bid for different keywords and select your daily, or monthly, budget.

Write your advert and link to a relevant 'landing page' on your website which makes a purchase quick and easy. Include a description, price, shipping costs and a 'click to buy' button.

Watch closely.

The best thing to do is to run a few PPC accounts and run your campaigns for a set period of time and compare results. The standard setup procedure involves:

create account & deposit funds

receive confirmation that your account has been activated

choose your keywords & text

watch your traffic to evaluate your choice of text & words

adjust your bids/ budget accordingly

Most PPC campaigns allow you to bid on your position. This means that you can bid on the number one position in the sponsored listings category. Bidding can be very competitive, with advertisers paying above $5 per click. Consider your price an acquisition cost-per-customer.

Several studies have demonstrated that once a visitor makes a purchase on a site and effectively becomes a customer they are likely to return again.
