What does Blog Mean?

What is Blogging?

Blogging is the act of posting content on a blog (a Web log or online journal) or posting comments on someone else's blog.

Originally, blogs were the work of a single author or in some cases several authors. However, the popularity of blogging has spread into the wider publishing arena with many news outlets using blogs to engage their readers online.

In contrast to a traditional website which may be updated irregularly, a BLOG is usually updated frequently, maybe weekly, daily or even several times a day, it all depends on the blogger. Depending on the topics which the blog covers, a blog could probably be considered stale if it was not updated for several months.

One reason for the massive surge in published blogs is the simplicity of its software. Most blogging applications make it very easy to create your own blog with no technical knowledge at all. This has enabled writers from all backgrounds to get their content online.

Wordpress and other content management systems (CMS) have also proved popular with bloggers. With Wordpress you can choose from a whole host of ready-made designs (themes), and a vast array of easy-to-install plugging which add functionality to the standard Wordpress installation.

Most blogs enable the visitors to post comments and/or suggestions allowing interactivity between the blogger and the visitors. This can create a connection between the blogger and their readers, which is what most bloggers would say blogging is all about.

Blogging is very popular today because it allows people to interact with each other. Blogging has also become a popular search engineoptimization (SEO) tool because search engines like Google and Yahoo know that a blog is frequently updated with content or visitor comments, so their spiders visit blogs frequently looking for new content to include in their index.

Blogging provides you with a platform to engage with your audience. If someone leaves a comment on your blog, respond to it. Also engage with other bloggers who write on subjects similar to yours.
